Job Summary: Reporting to the Business Process Manager, you will serve as the software developer for workflow automation and business process technology solutions, translating documented business requirements into secure, scalable, sustainable, and user-friendly systems. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining automated workflows, applications, integrations, and business solutions that improve operational efficiency and enhance the user experience across Front Range Community College. Working closely with the Process Manager and Information Technology leadership, you will support the Business Process Management Office (BPMO) by developing automation tools that reduce manual effort utilizing institutional technology platforms and industry best practices to enhance operational effectiveness. You will play a critical role in building the college's internal capacity to modernize workflows, reduce manual processes, and improve data accuracy. This position operates primarily in an office or hybrid work environment and requires extended periods of computer use, including system design, configuration, testing, and support activities. The role may require occasional travel between college campuses and participation in meetings with stakeholders across the institution. Flexibility to provide limited after-hours support may be necessary during system implementations, upgrades, maintenance activities, or to address critical operational issues. Duties & Responsibilities: Application Development Architect, develop, test, implement, and maintain software solutions that support college’s workflow processes, integrating with enterprise systems, databases, cloud platforms, and institutional technology (ERP, HR, CRM SIS, APIs). Design dynamic forms and automated workflows, validations, conditional logic, calculations, approvals, notifications, escalations, and document routing, to improve business processes and enhance employee and student experiences Manage the full software development lifecycle: development, testing, deployment, documentation, and maintenance, including user acceptance testing (UAT) and issue resolution. Develop reusable components, templates, and standards that support scalable institution-wide solutions. Workflow Automation Support Provide ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and production support for workflow automation platforms, forms management systems, dashboard, and operational tools, ensuring reliability, performance, and business continuity. Troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Ensure solutions comply with institutional security standards, data governance, accessibility regulations (ADA), FERPA, and applicable technology policies. Implement appropriate security controls, permissions, and access management practices. Recommend technology solutions and best practices aligned with business needs, and support the college’s broader process improvement and digital transformation initiatives. Business Analysis and Collaboration Collaborate with the Process Manager and departmental stakeholders to translate documented business processes and workflow requirements into technical solutions, including requirements gathering and solution validation . Analyze existing systems and workflows to identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and enhanced service delivery; assist departments in evaluating technology requests. Support audits, reviews, and security assessments and contribute to annual reporting on automation outcomes, efficiencies, and return on investment. Data Analysis and Reporting Conduct current-state and future-state process analyses to identify opportunities for efficiency, standardization, automation, risk reduction, enhanced customer service, and performance outcomes. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs); develop reports and dashboards that demonstrate process improvement results and return on investment (ROI). Present recommendations, findings, and project outcomes to executive leadership and governance groups. Documentation and Knowledge Management Develop and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and system diagrams for applications, workflows and integrations, following documentation and version control standards and system configurations. Support records retention and audit requirements., and institutional knowledge transfer for sustainability of technology solutions. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems Information Technology, or a closely related field. Two years of experience with software development, including experience in any of the following: system integrations, APIs, cloud technologies, or business process automation Experience gathering business requirements and documenting processes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
