Claim To Fame:
My education goal is to become a Pediatric nurse so I am able to help with children. I have worked as a volunteer for city of Scottsdale Park and Red children’s summer programs, Baby sat in the nursery at Chaparral Christian church with the babies and toddlers. I really enjoy working with the children and will love being able to help those children who are in need of medical attention. I plan on mentoring in art therapy. My plan is to work this into the children’s ward at the hospital for the children that are there for awhile. I am very positive, cheerful and will I am sure to be a accept to their recoveries. This scholarship will help me get to a four year university. I will not be able to do this without some finance help due to having three sisters in college right now. My parents are unable to pay my whole tuition because they are helping my sisters also at this time. I would like the experience of being on campus and the quality of learning, education you receive in a University opposed to a community school. When I was in elementary school through 7th grade I was very over weight. I struggled with my self esteem e, how my peers reacted to me looking this way. I started running track that year and my 8th grade year in junior high. I came in dead last each time. I finished with a smile on my face. I than did cross country and track my freshman year of High school. My first year I went from being last on my team to running in the middle of everyone time wise on my team. I lost around 28 pounds; I also grew 6 inches by my sophomore year. My sophomore year of high school I made the varsity teams on both cross country and track. My hard work, not giving up changed my life. I felt great about how I looked, how my hard work took me from loosing every race for two seasons to coming in first often in races. I will always remember how I was treated and reacted to when I was overweight. I will always see overweight children different than others. I have a lot of compassion for what they go through every day at school. Sometimes I think things happen for a reason. I learned a great lession with this. With all of this I know I will be a great nurse for children if I am given a chance to attend College this fall.
