Fredrick W. Lee is a class of 1999 graduate of Hampton University. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in accounting. After graduation, he relocated to California to begin his career with the U.S.Housing and Urban Development Office of Inspector General (U.S. HUD OIG). Since his relocation, he received numerous promotions leading to his current position as Assistant Regional Inspector General for Audit (ARIGA) for the Los Angeles. During his more than 16 years with the agency, he was involved in more 30 audits of various HUD programs that included single family, multifamily, community planning and development, and public housing. These audits resulted in identifying more than $250 million in questioned costs and significant internal control weaknesses that resulted in potential fraud, waste, and abuse of HUD program funds. In addition, he is a certified internal auditor (CIA) for the Institute for Internal Auditors (IIA) and a certified fraud examiner for the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). He is also an examine writer for the IIA and had more than 66 exam questions selected for inclusion in future CIA exams. He recently was selected on the ACFE's Advisory Council to offer his expertise in fraud detection and prevention to the organization. He is a donor to various organizations related to education and entrepreneurship. He was feature in the Opportunity Fund's publications as a donor committed to the promotion of entrepreneurs in the San Francisco Bay Area. For more than 10 years, he has donated backpacks filled with school supplies to Pittsburgh, PA (his hometown) preschool kids who graduated to kindergarten.
