LEAD Scholarship Foundation, Inc. is a registered 501
(c)(3) non-profit organization.
We provide financial assistance for minority high school
seniors entering their freshman year in college..
The scholarship foundation was founded in 2002 by
employees of Merck & Co., Inc. under the name BEN
Scholarship Foundation. In April 2005, the foundation
received its 501(c)(3) not-for-profit status and became its own separate organization. In 2011, we
changed our name to LEAD Scholarship Foundation.
The scholarships awarded are funded entirely from
personal and private contributions. To date, we have
awarded over $125,000 to 41 scholars.
Current Whereabouts:
We strive to provide both scholarships and mentoring for graduating high school seniors of African Descent in America! Our Mission is as follows: The LEAD Scholarship Foundation believes that education empowers individuals and open doors of opportunity. The Foundation vows to keep those doors of opportunity open by providing financial assistance for higher education and building support systems to ensure continued success of our award recipients. The LEAD Scholarship is open to all fields of study. Award recipients must show proven scholastic achievement, leadership, community service and financial need.

Our Vision is as follows: To be a nationally-recognized source of scholarship for high school students of African descent To build a community and support system for past, present and future scholarship recipients through mentoring opportunities To build a pipeline of employable talent
