My thesis addressed the regulatory role of the biogenic amine histamine on natural killer (NK) cell functions. Importantly, these studies helped form the basis for clinical trials of combined histamine and interleukin-2 (IL-2), a drug now known as Ceplene, that is currently prescribed for patients with metastatic melanoma and high-risk acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
