Brooklyn Hinton is a student leader at Hampton University pursuing a career in sports, entertainment and media law. She has gained experience in legal education, public policy, advocacy and social impact through the LegalTrek program at DePaul University College of Law and the Oak Blue Policy and Social Impact Fellowship. On campus, Brooklyn serves as Junior Representative to the Organizational Board and remains involved in student leadership, service and community engagement. She is passionate about using law, communication and policy to advocate for underrepresented communities while building a career at the intersection of culture, entertainment and social impact.
Current Whereabouts:
I’m currently into sports and entertainment law, public policy, leadership, community service, networking and finding new ways to grow professionally. Outside of school and career development, I enjoy old-school R&B, attending events and creating meaningful memories with friends and family.
Life & Professional Aspirations:
My life and professional aspirations center on becoming an attorney in sports, entertainment and media law while using my platform to advocate for equity and opportunity. I hope to represent athletes, artists and organizations, negotiate meaningful agreements and help clients protect their work, brands and futures. Personally, I aspire to live a purpose-driven life rooted in leadership, service, strong relationships and continuous growth. Ultimately, I want to build a successful legal career while creating opportunities for others and making a lasting impact in my community.

Oak Blue Policy and Social Impact Fellowship through the Cade Foundation, gaining hands-on experience in legislative research, government relations, policy analysis and health advocacy. Collaborated with attorneys, lobbyists and public policy professionals to examine how legislation can address reproductive and maternal health disparities. Researched Kentucky House Bill 21, evaluated its potential impact on access to perinatal mental health counseling and developed an advocacy strategy focused on legislative engagement, public education and community storytelling. Presented a final policy brief with recommendations for improving maternal mental health protections and expanding equitable access to care.
Junior Representative to the Organizational Board | Hampton University

Serve as the Junior Representative to the Organizational Board at Hampton University, representing the interests, concerns and ideas of the junior class. Collaborate with student leaders, campus organizations and university administrators to support student-centered initiatives, strengthen communication across campus and promote greater involvement in university programs. Assist with planning events, sharing important information with students and advocating for opportunities that enhance the overall campus experience. This position continues to strengthen my leadership, public speaking, teamwork and organizational skills while allowing me to serve as a voice for my class.

LegalTrek Summer Program at DePaul University College of Law, gaining firsthand exposure to legal education, professional development and different areas of legal practice. Participated in workshops focused on legal research, writing, negotiation, advocacy and law school preparation while connecting with attorneys, law students and legal professionals. Strengthened my understanding of the law school admissions process and explored career paths in sports, entertainment, media and public interest law. The program also helped me develop stronger communication, analytical thinking and professional networking skills as I prepare for a future career as an attorney.
