From a young age, music has been a significant part of my life. I remember the first time I held a flute during a school assembly; the way it shimmered in the light ignited a spark in my heart. As I grew older, that spark developed into a passion, leading me to realize my dream of becoming a band director and music teacher. This profession embodies the ideals of shaping the next generation of musicians, and I am committed to guiding young talents through the world of music, just as my mentors have done for me. Throughout my high school years, I have immersed myself in music, participating in concert band, jazz band, marching band, and even taking private lessons. This summer promises to be a transformative experience for me as I embark on my journey to college. I am scheduled to attend the LIONS Program at UAPB from July 6 to August 7, 2026. This program is designed to help new freshmen like me transition smoothly from high school to college life, and I am excited about the opportunities it presents. Not only will I meet other students who are starting this new chapter, but I will also have the chance to connect with faculty and staff who will guide me through my academic journey. Additionally, living in the Living Learning Center residence hall will help me adjust to the independence that comes with college life. During the LIONS Program, I look forward to engaging in various academic enrichment activities that will prepare me for the challenges of college coursework. I am particularly eager to participate in workshops that focus on study skills, time management, and effective communication. These skills will be essential as I transition from high school to a more rigorous academic environment. Moreover, the opportunity to form friendships with fellow freshmen will provide a support system that can ease the anxiety of starting college. I am also thrilled about attending the Marching Musical Machine of the Mid-South (M4) Summer Band Camp during the same period. As a passionate musician, I believe participating in this camp will not only improve my musical skills but also allow me to meet fellow band members and create lasting connections. My summer at UAPB is set to be a pivotal moment in my life. The LIONS Program will equip me with the necessary tools to thrive in college, while the M4 Summer Band Camp will enrich my passion for music. By immersing myself in these experiences, I am confident that I will develop the skills, friendships, and confidence needed to succeed as a new college student. I eagerly await the adventures and challenges that lie ahead, knowing that each step I take will bring me closer to becoming the person I aspire to be.
