The Horn Blowin’ Preacher

Timothy D. Walker, Sr., aka., “The Horn Blowin’ Preacher”, delivers the new sound of JOSPEL, a combination of gospel music with a jazz undertone. Walker, a native of the South Side of Chicago, has recently completed his CD entitled “…Ears Have Not Heard”, set to be released in the spring of 2008. In the upcoming year, Walker plans to tour the Southeastern and Midwestern States to promote this new innovative sound. In 2007, Walker’s music was featured both locally and internationally, with appearances in Kankakee, Mel Rose Park, and Joliet, IL. Also appearing in two conferences in Lagos, Nigeria and Port of Spain, Trinidad/Tobago.

Timothy D. Walker started his musical journey at Wendell Phillips High School, Chicago, under the tutelage of renowned jazz pianist Willie Pickens. He also played sax and piano with his church choir under the direction of Dr. Robert E. Wooten, Sr. from the Wooten Choral Ensemble. Walker attended Fayetteville State University in North Carolina, where he received his Bachelors of Science in Music Education. Mr. Walker received his teaching certification and began teaching instrumental and choral music in the Chicago land area. While working in the Chicago Public and Private Schools, he was appointed musical director for The Rainbow PUSH Organization. Working directly with Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., Walker coordinated music for the weekly forums and the national conventions. Walker has also been a music consultant and clinician for the Archdiocese of Chicago in many of the local parishes. He has performed and recorded with Darius Brooks, Walter Whitman and the Soul Children of Chicago, the Wooten Choral Ensemble, Chicago Housing Authority Gospel Choir, the McDonalds Gospel Choir, Angela Spivey, Brian Jones and Chosen, the Chicago State University Community Jazz and Concert Band, Rex Peel and Testimony.

Mr. Walker accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, and was called into the ministry and ordained as a Gospel Preacher in December of 1980. His goal is to spread the message of Jesus through music and preaching!

Quotes:

Former WNUA DJ and present Promoter, Denise Jordan-Walker exclaims, “The Horn Blowin’ Preacher is BADD! Where has he been hiding with all this talent.”

Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr. declares, “Walker is a well over qualified musician.”
