About the author: I was born in Harlem in 1953, on 128th street and Lennox avenue about 5 blocks from the world famous Apollo theater. My incredible loving mother, worked for a publishing company downtown, and my dad worked for the post office. I had a great childhood. I loved school, reading books, and just plain learning. In the middle of the first grade, I was placed in the second, and that June I was promoted to the third grade. My mother had an interesting opinion about all of this. “They just don’t expect any gifted children in that school, so they don’t even have an advanced class”. It might have been my first lesson in how kids who looked like me, sometimes weren’t expected to excel scholastically. ABOUT THE BOOK ----------- The book PURE AFRICAN GENIUS, by Reginald Stanley Sinkler, literally speaks to the reader, while inviting them to think, and to look carefully, as he clearly explains, and documents, an incredible series of historical facts about Africans in history.
