Casandra was born in Chicago, IL and spent her formative years in Aurora, IL. After graduating from Aurora East High School, she attended Talladega College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science. After beginning a career in higher education as an instructor, she began graduate studies at the University of Missouri-St. Louis where she earned a Master of Education degree specializing in Adult Education. She is currently ABD and plans to complete the PhD program in December of 2015.

Blassingame has had a very progressive career in higher education. She has spent 17 years in the field as an instructor, professor, coordinator, program director, director, executive director, chief academic officer, vice president, and now president of her own training company destined to become a part of the academy. She has worked for institutions such as St. Louis Community College-Forest Park, Harris-Stowe State University, University of Maryland University College, University of Virginia, Medtech College, and her very own alma mater Talladega College.

She currently resides in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, has three sons, and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is also serves as a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars National Advisory Board on Community Colleges.
