About   (request update)
I halfway have the typical urban girl story, I say halfway because my situation is quite unique. I grew up in one of the most dangerous cities in America known as Camden, New Jersey. My father is Jamaican and has 19 children and he was the biggest drug dealer in town in the 90's. My mother who is American has two children and she turned to drug use during my early middle school years. I bounced from home to home with family members and I witnessed a lot growing up that most people would probably never believe.

Although my childhood was rough I remembered my mother instilling the importance of education into my sister and I. To keep from feeling down about my situation I focused all my energy into fine arts. I participated in numerous extra curricular activities growing up and I fell in love with performing (dancing and acting). I also enjoyed writing because it allowed me to clear my head of the frustrations I faced coming from a broken home. When I was a senior I toured colleges on my own and traveled to them by bus and train. I also handled all of my paper work including the FASFA on my own because my aunt who was my guardian did not understand the process and I was determined to get to college.

I attended Rider University through the EOF program for all four years of my college career. I carried my leadership and outgoing spirit with me throughout my years there. I joined the dance team, started a step team with friends, and I started to study acting on a more professional level. I majored in Communications' with a focus in Public Relations and Broadcasting. My internships at W&W Public Relations and Clear Channel helped me gain professional experience in my field. Since then I worked for Comcast and did some freelance work with my writing. I believe in staying positive and facing adversity. It is my goal to show others where I am from that they can make it no matter what background they come from and finding your passion can save your life.
Current Whereabouts:
I currently take acting classes during my free time and I write. I also host an internet radio show called "Around The Way Girl Radio" Monday nights.
Life & Professional Aspirations:
I aspire to work in the media industry or communications department of a prominent company while pursuing my long term goals and dreams during my free time. I also plan to start a creative arts center for children in my hometown in the future. My mother could not afford dance school when I was a child so I taught myself by watching videos on TV. I want there to be something available for children who love to do creative activities but cannot afford to participate.
