As the VP of Data Engineering at Major League Baseball (MLB), I lead a team of 20 talented engineers who manage and transform data from 126 sources and 3PB daily. I focus on redefining data engineering by hiring talent, getting the team on Scrum, working closely with Product to define epics and stories, and meeting the needs of the leagues, clubs, and departments. My Leadership Style focuses on the development of Engineers by establishing foundational skillsets, using emotional intelligence, and pushing for a culture of critical thought. This is done with a focus on People, Processes, and Technology in that order.
