Valetta Brinson, née Wayne is a native of Memphis. She has performed in the United Kingdom, Asia, the Caribbean and throughout the United States. She specializes in Spirituals, art songs, classical, jazz and contemporary music. She has performed recitals and concerts with Hattiloo Theatre, Blues City Cultural Foundation, Memphis Black Arts Alliance and other agencies. In 2004, she debuted the role of the late Coretta Scott King in the opera entitled, "The Promise,"​ composed by The University of Memphis professor, Dr. John Baur. The opera chronicles the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. She was the music director for "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “Honk,” "Annie," "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," "My Christmas Caryl," Black Chorus Cabaret and "Closer than Ever" in Mem
