John Shaquille Poitier Jr. is a published author, international student, and aspiring physician-scientist with a passion for merging science, storytelling, and service. My claim to fame in college is being the Bahamian-born storyteller who blurred the lines between science, poetry, and public speaking, known across campus as the student who could win a national speech competition one weekend, publish a book the next, and still lead in the classroom with a quiet, undeniable brilliance. Whether performing spoken word that left crowds breathless or advocating for international student voices in leadership meetings, I became the voice people listened to, not just because I spoke loudly, but because I spoke with purpose.
