Claim To Fame:
My “claim to fame” in college is being a servant leader who represents the voice of online students while staying true to the Morehouse legacy. Being elected Secretary of the Online Student Government Association was a defining moment that gave me the chance to create unity among online students and ensure we are fully included in the brotherhood. Through this role, I became known for my communication and advocacy. Whether helping launch engagement initiatives, collaborating with administration, or supporting brothers with resources, I worked to make sure online students felt valued and connected. Equally, my claim to fame is resilience. As a first-generation student who earned a GED and returned to college later in life, I’ve become an example that perseverance pays off. My journey has shown my peers that with determination and faith, no obstacle can stop us from achieving our goals. Together, these experiences define my reputation at Morehouse: a leader who serves with humility, a brother who builds connections, and a student who refuses to give up.
Most Memorable Moment:
When I reflect on my college journey, two moments stand out as the most memorable because they shaped both my outlook and my sense of belonging at Morehouse College. The first was New Student Orientation. As an online student, I initially wondered how connected I would feel to the Morehouse experience. But NSO changed everything. It was more than just an introduction to the college—it was an invitation into a brotherhood. Through the workshops, panels, and conversations with fellow students and faculty, I felt the rich legacy of Morehouse come alive. That experience reminded me that no matter where I study from, I am part of something bigger than myself, and it gave me a renewed confidence to approach my studies and personal growth with purpose. The second moment was being elected as Secretary for the Online Student Government Association. That election was not just a position; it was a call to serve and represent my brothers. It showed me that my peers trusted me to help shape the online student experience, and it pushed me to sharpen my leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Being able to contribute in that capacity has been one of the most rewarding parts of my Morehouse journey so far. What makes both of these moments even more meaningful are the new relationships this HBCU experience has allowed me to build. I have formed bonds with classmates, professors, and alumni who not only encourage me but also challenge me to grow. These relationships have given me mentors to look up to, peers to collaborate with, and a brotherhood to lean on. They have become a source of accountability and support, reminding me that my success is tied to the collective strength of the Morehouse community. Together, these moments—NSO, my SGA election, and the relationships I’ve built—remind me that Morehouse is more than a school. It is a place where traditions inspire, opportunities shape us, and leadership is both nurtured and expected. These experiences have left a lasting mark on me, and they continue to motivate me as I prepare for the future.
