Ja’Nya Short is a dedicated sophomore at North Carolina Central University majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management, with an expected graduation in 2027. She is passionate about creating meaningful guest experiences, promoting mental health awareness, and representing excellence within the HBCU community. Ja’Nya has professional experience in customer service and teamwork through roles at CVS Health, Nova Parks, and Domino’s, where she developed strong communication and leadership skills. She also volunteers with Cure the Streets DC and participates in community service and tutoring initiatives. Claim To Fame:

My claim to fame in college is being known for my positive attitude, strong work ethic, and passion for hospitality. Whether I’m organizing events, helping classmates, or representing my major, I’m always the one people can count on to show up and give my best. I take pride in balancing academics, campus involvement, and my brand Keepn My Cool (KMC), which promotes mental health awareness among Black college students. My drive to succeed while uplifting others has helped me stand out as a dependable and creative leader at NCCU.

Most Memorable Moment:

moments have come from participating in campus events, meeting new people, and learning from inspiring professors. From homecoming week to late-night study sessions with friends, each experience has taught me something about growth, teamwork, and community. Every moment at NCCU reminds me why I chose an HBCU for the culture, the pride, and the lifelong connections.
