Q&A With Michael Danquah-Tabbi

(interview me)
Michael Danquah-Tabbi
Technical Assistant , Code Differently

Location: Middletown, DE United States

About   (request update)
I recently graduated from Delaware State University with a Bachelor’s in Information Technology, with a focus on AI, robotics, and software engineering. I built an autonomous navigation system for a Boston Dynamics Spot robot using ROS 2 and computer vision, and I lead bootcamp cohorts as a Technical Assistant at Code Differently. Throughout my time at DSU, I had the opportunity to represent the university at major AI and robotics showcases alongside President Tony Allen, which led to some incredible doors opening early in my career. I am continuing my education at DSU this fall pursuing an MS in Computer Science, with a long-term goal of becoming an AI engineer
Current Whereabouts:
Right now I am really deep into AI engineering and robotics. I have been building autonomous systems, working with large language models, and developing full stack applications that incorporate AI. I am focused on finding ways to use AI to solve real problems for people and communities
Life & Professional Aspirations:
Professionally, my goal within the next five years is to be well immersed in AI engineering, building products that solve real problems for everyday people. I would love to launch my own startup one day, but I am also open to growing within a great company doing meaningful work. On the personal side, I am working toward a peaceful and quiet life. When I am not in tech mode I am usually listening to music, traveling, hitting the gym, or trying new foods
Education   (request update)
Delaware State University class of 2026
Undergrad Major: Information Technology
Claim To Fame:
I’ve had the chance to showcase our robotics and AI work at events alongside President Tony Allen, met with people like Senator Chris Coons, Senator Darius Brown, Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester, and folks from NVIDIA, co-presented an AI application built for the Innovation Venture AI 2.0 Summit, and even got to talk about what we were doing on Good Morning Delaware
Most Memorable Moment:
Some of my most memorable moments at DSU were the networking events. Getting to be in the same room as professionals from Capital One, Bank of America, J.P. Morgan, and so many other major companies as a student was a surreal feeling. Through my robotics and AI work I also got to meet people from NVIDIA, sit in rooms with U.S. senators and Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester, and co-present at the Innovation Venture AI 2.0 Summit alongside President Tony Allen. DSU has a way of bringing those opportunities directly to you and showing you that people in those positions genuinely want to see you succeed.
