As a member of the POISE Modeling team for the past two years, I mastered discipline, teamwork, and composure under pressure. This self-assurance fueled my journey to becoming Miss Phi Beta Sigma. Winning this title required me to conquer my fears by performing a song live in front of a packed auditorium, a defining moment that dramatically sharpened my public speaking, event coordination, and courage to take risks. Claim To Fame:

My absolute claim to fame at Southern University isn�t my GPA, nor is it my ability to survive the walk up the Bluff in that brutal Baton Rouge August heat. No, my legacy is forever tied to the POISE Modeling group. For the past two years, I�ve been serving looks and striking poses with POISE. But I didn't become a campus legend for having a flawless, Naomi Campbell-level strut. I became legendary during our biggest Fall Fashion Show. I was doing my fierce, intensely dramatic walk down the runway, feeling like absolute royalty. The crowd was hyped. I hit the end of the runway, went for my signature spin, and immediately stepped on the hem of my own oversized, avant-garde pants. Instead of gracefully falling, I went into what can only be described as a panicked, interpretive wind-up toy dance to keep my balance. I pinwheeled my arms wildly while maintaining complete, deadpan model eye contact with the front row. Miraculously, I didn't drop. I struck a rigid, breathless pose at the end of the wobble. The crowd went absolutely wild, assuming it was a highly choreographed, avant-garde move. Ever since that night, people stop me outside the Student Union to ask me to do "The Wobble Strut." Two years in POISE, and I�m an icon simply because I refused to hit the floor.

Most Memorable Moment:

If you had told my freshman self that my defining moment at Southern University would involve belting out a song under a spotlight, I would have politely directed you to the nearest exit. I have always been comfortable leading from behind the scenes, not commanding center stage. But deciding to run for Miss Phi Beta Sigma changed the entire trajectory of my college career. When the talent portion of the pageant loomed, I knew I had a choice: play it incredibly safe, or completely abandon my comfort zone. I chose the latter. I was going to sing. Live. In front of a packed auditorium on the Bluff. The night of the pageant, as I walked up to the microphone, my heart was beating in a completely different time signature than my backing track. I gripped the mic stand, silently praying my voice wouldn't suddenly sound like a startled goose, and just went for it. I may not have hit the notes with Beyonc�-level acoustic perfection, but I compensated with absolute, unapologetic confidence. To my utter shock�and immense relief�the crowd erupted. When they placed the Miss Phi Beta Sigma crown on my head, the humor of the situation hit me: my biggest collegiate victory came from my most terrifying five minutes. That night taught me a profound professional lesson that I carry with me today: true leadership and growth happen the exact moment you stop playing it safe. It gave me the unshakeable confidence to tackle any challenge in my career�just as long as I don't have to sing at the next board meeting.
