Evan Kinsel is an Applied Physics and Mechanical Engineering student at Morehouse College's Dual Degree Engineering Program, and the first in his family to attend an HBCU. As a Quantum Systems Intern at QuantCAD LLC on a NASA SBIR Phase II magnetic sensing project, he revived a magnetometer scanning system, optimized Halbach array magnets to 17 times the project's target field gradient, and presented results to the company's CEO and chief scientist. An Eagle Scout with Palm Distinction who led 81 volunteers to assemble 1,100+ survival kits, he now chairs Telecommunications for NSBE's Atlanta University Center Chapter and has taught drone technology, achieving a 90% FAA exam pass rate. He builds across Python, React, and embedded hardware.

Contributed to a NASA SBIR Phase II magnetic sensing project. Revived a nonfunctional magnetometer rotational scanning system and upgraded its primary sensor for a 24.4x increase in dynamic range. Ran a multi-stage Halbach array magnet optimization pipeline (greedy removal, differential evolution, L-BFGS-B), achieving a field gradient roughly 17 times the project's minimum target with R� values above 0.95. Developed MagPlotter, an open-source Python tool for visualizing magnetic field scan data, and built a React-based interactive gradient design simulator. Engineered a drop-tested PCB carrier for secure lab transport and built a 45+ contact prospect database supporting the team's business development efforts. Presented technical results to company leadership, including the CEO and chief scientist.
