Current Whereabouts:

One person, on a whim, shared a scholarship opportunity with me. That single act was worth $450,000. Three full rides that paid for my education. I wasn't smarter than the students around me. Somebody just told me how. That's why I built The New College PerspectiveŽ. Today I help colleges, TRIO programs, scholarship foundations, and nonprofits deliver the college access, college success, and career readiness programming their students need, virtually and in person. I've delivered programming for First Tee, Fulbright, ScholarMatch, college TRIO programs, and more. As one director put it: "She was engaging, relatable, and brought a unique energy that truly elevated the entire event." I also host our college-to-career podcast, winner of the 2025 Catalyst Award for Best Web Series, and publish a free weekly database of verified scholarships, internships, and global opportunities. Many of the students we serve don't have the luxury of just being students. They're workers, parents, and caregivers. First-generation and transfer students. Veterans and military spouses. Adults returning after stopping out. I know these students because I've taught them. Before this, I spent years as faculty at community colleges and universities and built an adult employment training program. I'm also a military spouse, so I know what it's like to build something while everything around you keeps moving. My passion for students also came through working as a U.S. diplomat in Kenya, Jamaica, Mexico, the UK, Washington D.C., and as a Returned Peace Corps Education Volunteer in the Philippines. The National Fulbright Association has featured my work empowering students to pursue global education, and I have served on two education boards: the Robertson Foundation for Government, which funds graduate fellowships for students entering public service, and My Tribe Media, which supports first-generation and transfer students. That one scholarship opportunity, shared on a whim, is still the reason I do this. Most students never get that conversation.
