About   (request update)
Ray Mapp - Father, Historian, Author, Publisher and Minister

Born in Asheville, NC April 20th, 1963

Attended Asheville, NC public schools. Graduated from Asheville High School 1981

Fall of 1981 - Majored in computer science and minored in business and history @ Johnson C. Smith University with a full football scholarship.

After graduating from college with a bachelor=s degree in computer science, I eventually got a position at Coca Cola Bottling Co. as a computer analyst, where I worked for 6+ years before operating a publishing and graphics business full time. Purpose Publishing, Inc. is the company name.

Being naturally interested in science … I wanted to know who invented this or that and who pioneered the development of this or that. The public schools I attended offered little to no information on the subject and provided misleading information for those contributions they did rarely mention.

My main concern is that too many African American children believe that they can’t learn certain subjects simply because they are African American. I want them to know that not only “YES WE CAN” but “YES WE DID” and “YES WE WILL”.

I eventually started this publishing company named Purpose Publishing, Inc. and we publish only material that inspires people to improve self-esteem as well as improve race relations.

Purpose Publishing, Inc. publishes posters, books, art, CDs and DVDs. Our main product right now is the Black Miracles Book-On-A-Poster, which has over 200 inventions by Black Men & Women that set the stage for modern technology and medicine, as we know it.

The poster was entitled Black Miracles, because I believe we are all walking, breathing, heart pumping miracles, but more specifically, because many of the scientists listed on this poster could only have been instructed by divine intervention to achieve such high tech inventions and life saving medical contributions. Because many of the scientists we highlight were the first to accomplish certain contributions, there could have been no instruction manuals or mortal teachers.
