About   (request update)
My name is Nnanna Alozie and I am an 18 year-old, sophomore at Xavier University. I have two brothers, one older who attended the University of Illinois and is currently planning to attend law school and one younger brother who is a freshman at Marian Catholic High School in Chicago, IL. Most of my time is spent in school, participating in sporting activities and doing community service.
My major of choice is Biology Pre-Med and this is the main reason I chose Xavier because it has an outstanding medical school rate for African-Americans. I also am an avid sports fan. My favorite sports are football and basketball. I have played basketball since the fourth grade and have received two MVP awards from it and numerous other recognitions. Although I have not continued to play in college it remains a big part of my life because I enjoy playing and I do it very often with many of my close friends. My second favorite sport is football. I was a four year letterman of this sport in high school and enjoyed it very much. Although I do not play any sports at Xavier University I continue to work out in the weight room and gym in order to keep myself healthy and fit.
One of the best parts of my college experience is participating in community service. Seeing as how I go to school in New Orleans which is still recovering from the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina I love the fact that I can go and help people in my own little way. The community service project that I participate in is Pair Care in which I go spend time with young children some of which are sick and I just try and provide them with a good time. My friends and I have also started our own community service project called 2K in 3 Days which is aimed to unite college students in the New Orleans area to come out and help in the rebuilding of New Orleans. My family is extremely important to me. Without my parents I first of all wouldn’t even be on this earth and I thank them heavily for the opportunities that they have given me to succeed and make something of myself. I love my parents and my brothers deeply and would do anything for them. I also thank the God for the friends that he has given me in life. I believe that God plans every situation out and I thank him for giving me the people that I call my friends because they have deeply influenced me and I love them all. In closing I think of myself as a young adult just trying to make it in life and with the love and support of my family, friends, and God I know I will.
My Interview Question
How do you make a difference in your life to affect others?
Current Whereabouts:
School, sports, family and hanging with my friends
Life & Professional Aspirations:
In the future I hope to graduate from Xavier in high academic standing and go on to medical school. As far as the type of physician I become, I want to be a Dermatologist or work in Sports Medicine, either way I just want to be able to help people in any way that I can. I came to college to get an education that I felt would improve me as a human being and I feel that being and Xavier with the goals I hope to accomplish in life are a true example of what type of person I am and the type of person I hope to become as I continue to mature more and more into adulthood.
