The Institute for International Public Policy Fellowship

The United Negro College Fund Special Programs Corporation's Institute for International Public Policy is now accepting applications for their fellowship program. Funded by a grant from the Department of Education, The IIPP addresses the need for diverse perspectives within the international affairs arena, pipelining students through a sequence of components including 2 rigorous summer academic institutes, study abroad, intensive language training, internship, and graduate school. The Institute is a member of the Department of State’s prestigious “Diplomatic Fellows Program.” The Fellowship produces global leaders with a variety of professional backgrounds. A small sampling includes but not limited to Foreign Service officers, international lawyers, international development professionals, investment bankers and policy analysts
The Fellowship program is valued at approximately $70,000 per Fellow. A brief breakdown of financial award: *Note: The Fellowship consists of a multi-sequence of components in chronological order as shown below. 1. Sophomore Summer Policy Institute (Spelman College) * Funding includes tuition, housing, meals, books & materials, airfare to Washington, DC & NYC for study missions. 2. Junior Year Abroad Program (JYSA) *Funding includes up to half of study abroad costs at an approved program. 3. Junior Summer Policy Institute (University of Maryland) *Funding includes airfare to and from Institute, tuition, housing, meals, books & materials. 4. Internship *Stipend based on location and professional career advisors to assist fellows in the selection and the securing of internships. 5. Summer Language Institute (Middlebury College) *Funding includes intense 8-11 week total-immersion language training at Middlebury College’s renowned language institute. 6. Graduate School *Funding includes up to $15,000 towards a Master’s degree in international affairs. To be eligible for the Fellowship program, applicants must: *Be an underrepresented minority: African American, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian, Asian American, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander. *Be a U.S. citizens or permanent resident. *Be a sophomore student enrolled full time at a four year institution (or freshman with sophomore advanced standing per advanced placement credits) *Have at minimum, a 3.2 grade point average. *Have a demonstrable interest in international affairs.
