The Being an American Essay Contest is open to high school students between the ages of 13 and 19. To enter, you must compose a maximum 1000 - word essay on the following topic: "How does the Constitution establish and maintain a culture of liberty?" The essay must be submitted by your teacher to be considered.

There are 15 awards available.

Teachers who sponsor a student with a winning essay will receive $100 for each student that places in his or her region. Please visit the sponsor's Web site for additional information.
