Summer Institute for Emerging Managers and Leaders HBCU Fellowship

Dollar Amount: Up to $0
Deadline: March 30th, 2012
Sponsor: University of California
Award Type: Scholarship Money
Posted By: Reginald Claremont on 02/29/2012

The University of California Summer Institute for Emerging Managers and Leaders is an all-expenses-paid, career-building fellowship which provides an intensive two-week training to first- and second-year students from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

As a participant in the program, you'll learn from world-class educators at the University of California's graduate business schools. You'll meet one-on-one with CEOs, CFOs and other industry leaders in some of the country's most thriving hubs for enterprise and innovation. You'll participate in dynamic, hands-on workshops that will immerse you in principles of business development and entrepreneurship, and help build analytical, technical and management expertise. You'll gain exposure to opportunities for internships, for career development, and for continuing on to pursue a master's degree in business. And you'll make valuable connections with your peers in the program, some of the HBCU's best and brightest.

In short, you'll get a running start on your future.

The fellowship is open to 25 students per fellowship class. Students from all academic backgrounds and majors at HBCUs are invited to apply for the program. Experience and/or interest in the areas of leadership and management are required of all applicants, and should be demonstrated during various steps of the application process. While the selection process is competitive, program administrators are driven to bring together a diverse group of emerging managers and leaders with a variety of skill sets from across the United States.

The Summer Institute is an all-expense-paid fellowship that includes airfare; full room and board at campus dormitories; transportation; the cost of materials, events and entertainment that are part of the program; and a small weekly stipend to cover miscellaneous expenses.
