American student debt is over $1 trillion. College seniors who graduated in 2010 carried an average of $25,250 in student loan debt. Unless academic institutions begin to try seriously to reduce their costs, both the cost of college and student debt will continue to spiral upward. DoSomething.org and its members say this is unacceptable. They ve launched a national petition urging young people everywhere to hold academic institutions accountable and make college affordable for everyone! DoSomething.org will award a $3,000 scholarship to a student that has gone beyond being a petition signer, to being an organizer, by inviting at least 5 friends to sign the petition. No minimum GPA. No essay. Just spread awareness of the issue. You must be no more than 26 years of age and a U.S. or Canadian citizen to be considered for this award.
