The Walmart First Generation Summer Scholarship is open to all first generation freshman students with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Selected scholars will receive a scholarship of $3,100 for summer session, which can be used to cover the costs of tuition and fees, on-campus room and board and required textbooks purchased from member-schools.

Requirements.

Currently enrolled at one of TMCF’s 47 member-schools
Attend summer school
Demonstrate financial need
First-generation student (i.e. neither parent has graduated from college)
Current grade point average of 2.5 or higher
U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551
Applicants must also submit the following documents for consideration:
Resume (include community service, leadership and employment/internship experience)
2013 Student Aid Report (received from filing FAFSA)
Most recent transcript (applicants may upload a copy of either an unofficial or official transcript)
Current Recommendation from current school faculty member (only one letter)


Essay: In a minimum of 500 words, please address one of the following questions
What inspired you to pursue a degree in your current field of study and what impact will it have on our society?
What does it mean to be the first person in your family to receive a college degree?
