With a growing shortage of qualified and diverse health professionals in all aspects of public health, the Office of Minority Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is committed to reducing health disparities by supporting the next generation of health professionals. OMH is dedicated to advancing and disseminating knowledge in the field of health equity across a variety of health fields.
YHEMOP is no ordinary short-term fellowship experience; as a YHEMOP Health Equity Fellow, you’ll benefit from: - Being mentored by a seasoned health professional. - Leading a high quality, hands on, health equity related project. - Engaging in summer health equity learning opportunities. - Receiving one-on-on support and technical assistance from the YHEMOP Team. Placement sites and heath equity projects are chosen specifically for the quality of the project proposed. Health Equity Fellows complete projects which aim to advance health equity in communities across the U.S. YHEMOP Health Equity Fellows must be: - Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university as an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral student; OR graduated from an accredited college or university within the past year. - An emerging health professional with 1-5 years of relevant experience. - A student in good standing with the college or university in which the student is enrolled. - Available to work 40 hours a week during normal business hours, or for the time required by the Placement Site. - Available to work at the Placement Site, unless a telework agreement has been established prior to accepting the fellowship.
