James A. Wells, Sr. Veterans Scholarship

To honor her late father, attorney Cara Wells Stigger, of Kaufman & Stigger, PLLC, has offered scholarships for U.S. active duty military personnel, veterans, reservist, and spouses, and children of someone who has served our country. Two students will be awarded $1,000.
James Allen Wells, Sr., proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. He was drafted in February of 1942, and served until 1945. After serving in Europe, James returned to his life as a farmer in Cumberland County, Kentucky. He was devoted to his family and proud to have served our country. James and his wife Sue, encouraged their five children to further their education. To learn more about the late James A. Wells, watch this short video and hear from his daughter Cara and wife Sue. If you apply for the scholarship, let us know what you think about their comments regarding James in your application Introduction. Deadline: May 17, 2024 Eligibility Requirements: Must be a Kentucky or Indiana resident Must be a US Military active duty, reservist, veteran, spouse or child of a someone who served our country. Be a graduating high school senior or currently enrolled student at a 2 or 4-year college or university Minimum 3.0 GPA Plan to pursue a postsecondary degree after high school graduation If you are selected to receive this scholarship, a form DD-214 must be provided prior to receiving the award. Submit an introduction in the form below telling us about yourself. We want to know what made you who you are today. Submit an essay in the form below telling about someone who influenced your life in a positive manner and how that will have an impact on your future. Award: Two students will be awarded $1,000; nonrenewable to be paid directly to college or university admissions office.
