Pocket Prep Racial Equity Scholarship: 10 Awards of $1,500 Plus Full Exam Fees

For many talented professionals, the last barrier standing between them and a career they have worked hard for is not knowledge or drive — it is the cost of getting certified. Exam registration fees, prep materials, and study tools can add up quickly, and for candidates from communities historically underrepresented in their fields, those costs are one of the biggest reasons qualified people never make it through the door. Pocket Prep, a leading exam-prep platform, is working to close that gap with the return of its 7th annual Racial Equity Scholarship.

The program will award 10 recipients $1,500 each, plus full coverage of their certification exam registration fees — a package designed to remove real financial obstacles for people pursuing professional credentials. The scholarship supports certification across a wide range of high-demand fields, including behavioral health, nursing, IT and cybersecurity, project management, human resources, and fitness, among more than 100 supported exams.

What makes this scholarship stand out is how personal the application process is. Rather than reducing applicants to a checklist, Pocket Prep asks for two short essays — written or recorded — that are reviewed by real people, not an algorithm. The reviewers are looking for genuine stories and authentic motivation, giving applicants room to share the journey and the barriers they have overcome rather than simply filling in boxes.
