Fort Valley State Posted on 11-03-2004
mg-qua04

I'm a student at a community college and I want to transfer to Fort Valley State. I've heard somethings about the school, but I wanted someone who currently attends the school to let me know what it's really like. What is the campus like? Are there alot of activites to engage in? Is there anything to do in the city Fort Valley? If someone could respond I would appreciate it. Thank you.

I guess I really can't say a lot about FVSU 'cause I don't go there, but I am from Fort Valley. All I can tell you is that the town of Fort Valley is small, and most of the stores and restaurants are on the other side of town. I appreciated the quietness of Fort Valley when I was there. There's stuff to do once you get 30 minutes away from Fort Valley, so knowing someone with a car would probably be necessary. There's one person on here from FVSU, so they'll be able to tell you more about the school itself.

Fort Valley State to me is cool. It can get boring, but the boring times normally only come when u refuse to get involved and do anything. I have some friends here who say it is boring, and when I ask them what do they do besides go to class, and I hear nothing. There are plenty of people that come to the school. This year alone we have had: Jim Brown - NFL hall of fame running back Kwame Mfume - NAACP President Eightball and MJG Lloyd, the singer who makes the song "Southside" w/ Ashanti We will have Spike Lee here next semester Sista Souljah, the writer, will be here next semester If u are a person who likes to club, the clubs down here are pretty good. We had Pastor Troy and T.I. down here on seperate occassions. The school has 2,500 students, and trust me, that means u will get to know more people "personally" than if u were at a larger school That is just my opinion on the school and no I am not going to say FVSU is just tight as hell because it does have its drawbacks. If u can't get home or go somewhere on weekends, u will be messed up The food is actually good for a college cafeteria, except on weekends The Greek's (Frats/Sororities) are tight down here. Also, what is your major?

Social Work. Do they have a good program? This should've been my first question. My aunt said that Fort Valley was a good school and that they work with their students. And by the way I know Lloyd we went to High school togather

If u went to school w/ Lloyd, that means u went to school with me, cause me and Lloyd went to the same school. As far as a social work, I don't know if they are known really well, but from what I have heard the program is good. And because of the school size 2,500, u as a student will get to know more people on a personal level. Some teachers will work with students, some don't, but that is at any school
