I'm NOT MEAN....

I'm HONEST! Aight, today someone decided that he wanted to "confront" me (I guess that was what he was tryin to do) and tell me that I'm too honest. I told him yesterday that I'm not mean, but rather I'm an honest person who says what's on her mind. I don't mean to be malicious to anyone in ANY way, but if there's something that bothers me, I have NO problem, what-so-ever, speaking on it. Some people don't like me for it, but hey, I can't control their thoughts of me so why should I care? After a little bit of picking at him, he finally says "you shouldn't say things that may hurt someone's feelings." Now, the sad thing about this is, it took me picking at him for him to finally hint at what he was thinking. I feel that if you are gonna try to speak on my personality or the way I conduct myself, then you need to come and say everything you mean and not beat around the bush, ya know? Then, he proceeds to say that it would be better if I said things BEHIND people's back "because then no one would get their feelings hurt." (YES, these are HIS words! and YES I think it's a crock of u know what) ANYWHO, I said all of that to ask you folks this....do you think it's better to be the way I am and tell people to their faces what I think, WHEN I think it, or should I hold things back and if I MUST say something, to say it behind their back?? Also, I wanna know your opinions on this entire situation.

I feel what you're saying, but that's just the point, I don't say EVERYTHING that's on my mind cuz Lawd KNOWS that'll get you into some trouble. I mean, yeah, I know what tact is and I try to exercise it as often as possible and like I said, I don't try to hurt people's feelings but I guess some folks just are a little more sensitive than others. :?

Yeah, u took the words straight out of my mouth. All i was going to say was, i don't think it's wrong for speaking your mind. I just think it's important to remember to have tact, becuz some things just aren't meant to be said. And sometimes i don't even think that it's all about what u can and cannot say. But i think it's all in HOW u say it. I think there is a way to be honest, without being rude. I try to apply that, becuz i have a problem with not wanting to hurt people's feelings. I just eats me up inside for some reason Sad

. Anywho, i think it's all in your approach.
