simple question...have you ever considered going to a PWC and are you still considering them for backups??...
right now my list is...
1) Howard
2) Auburn
3) Duke
4) FAMU
5) UNC- Chapel Hill
and I've already started talking with some recruiters from Columbia
reason I only have 2 HBCU's on the list is because...
1) They have good Biology programs
2) I just don't want to go to Morehouse (too close to home)
3) Xavier is too far
To be honest, I was seriously considering going to either The University of Tennessee at Knoxville or either Mercer University in Macon, GA. The reason being is that both schools have extremely good Pharmacy schools and programs. Shoot, their Pharmacy schools are nationally ranked. I know if I would have chosen to attend those schools, my degree would definantely not be questioned once I graduated.
The reason I chose not to attend UTK was because...well heck I really don't know. I never visited the campus, so I really had nothing to base that decision off of. I decided not to attend Mercer because I didn't really like the atmosphere. I mean I could have dealt with it, but it wasn't a place that I felt I could have easily adapted to. Sometimes I do wonder if I would have been better off attending either one of those schools. Who knows? Only time will tell.
I was thinking of University of Alabama, Auburn University, and University of Alabama, Birmingham..But I just couldn't stop thinking of Tuskegee..Soo, I'm happy 8)
I was considering Agnes Scott College, but I think the only reason why I applied was because my mom went there. Once I visited the campus, I just didn't feel right. The atmosphere wasn't as welcoming as that of Hampton and Spelman, so my decision was between these two schools.
I was considering Eastern Illinois University because I had been going there for this summer camp for 4 years and I liked the campus, but the thing was it was a black camp and when I realized that there were black colleges I knew that's where I wanted to be. My parents said that I had to apply to an in state school so that was it but I didn't get in and I got in to my first, third and fourth choice and that was the only PWI I was considering.
when i was in 8th grade UCLA was my first choice but now:

3. Columbia
4. UC Berkeley
5. SF State
so yeah...i consider them but i would only go to one if it was absolutely necessarry

Oh wow, u were thinking about UTK too? Yeah I got accepted there too but when it came down to money, I was an out of state student and never got to visit, so that fell through. MOst of the 8 schools I applied to were PWC, most of them nationally ranked, got into all of them...the HBCUs I applied to were Tennessee State (1st choice), Hampton and Grambling...but it's good to apply to PWCs even if u don't wanna go to one, because u never know what could happen...anything could fall through so PWCs are good backups
When I was in middle school I used to dream of going to UCLA. but once I visited the campus and saw those 10,00+ students...i decided against it! Plus I didnt see enough of my color on campus(nothing against anyone/race). Then, I wanted to go to Emerson in Boston. I heard that it was like the #1 school in the communications dept. Went there and it was not my style! For damn sure it was too cold ( Im a Cali girl!) and too much like SF. During my junior year of high school I visited like 10 HBCU's and decided that I had finally found a college. FAMU Ratla's U heard!!!!

I'm really strugglin on this topic cuz my mom is pressuring me about going to a black school, but I'm not sure if it what I want. But howard seems real nice...so I think I might go there...waiting for my acceptance letter as we speak..LOL
