^^^That's the same reason Igot one too. I can see how reports feel as if most people got cell-phone in order to feel important...but the keyword in that situation is most. I don't feel like you can group all people together like that because I didn't get a cellphone to make myself feel important.............
People think they need the cell phone to survive. Like its equivalent to breathing. I got my cell phone for emergencies too. I hate when people talk on their cell phone in restaurants, really Loud. I dont understand. Can you put it away for a second. geez :???:
Me and my sisters didn't get phones until last year, when I left for college. We'd been pushing for it for years, but no. "It's a long drive from home to school, we need cellphones so Grandma can let us know if she's late, etc." "No, phones give you brain tumors." "Then why do you have one?" "I need one, you don't. Kids don't need tumors."
It used to seem funny to me how these high school girls had their cell phones for no reason and they were always going over their limit and going broke.

Didn't the plans used to really suck like that where you got lots of overages? It's bad enough if you're just jumping on the bandwagon, at least wait until it's something you can actually afford.
i have one but it's been turned off since i left florida...now i just use it for games and time...but yeah people so get them just to pretend they're rich n whatnot...
I got a cellphone to keep in contact with family and friends. I'm not even a phone person, I'd rather talk in person. But I didn't get one to feel important and it's convenient to have a cell rather than going to a cellphone and looking for 50 cents when needing to make a call. Also, 20 years ago weren't cellphones higher and the technology wasn't as advanced?
actually, i got a cell phone in case of emergencies when i started driving or in case my momma needed to get in touch w/ me when i went out sumwhere, but....... o well :smt026
That's the same reason I got one, but now since I'm away from home and my room phone is crap :x , my cell phone has become my main phone. I'm definitely not a phone person, so I hate hearing other people's loud and useless conversations.
