1. San Francisco- no. 1 pick out of Utah. QB Alex Smith of course
2. Miami- This pick is between Cedric Benson and Ronnie Brown. I give it to RB Ronnie Brown just because he ran better at the combine.
3. Cleveland- Tough pick but QB Aaron Rogers worked out pretty good, and trent dilfer makes too many mistakes to be a long term starter.
4. Chicago- My team, I think their leaning towards the best skill position in the draft, so WR braylon edwards is gonna get the call.
5. Tampa Bay- This pick is gonna be easy for tampa bay. Cedric Benson. A big running back that can hold his own up the middle, consistent with his multiple 1000 yard seasons at Texas. Workhorse.
6. Tennessee They lost samari rolle and andre dyson is a FA. Look for them to grab CB antrel rolle because he's has the best size/speed combo in the draft.
7. Minnesota- Their gonna be tempted to get mike williams, but I dont see how any team lacking defense can pass up LB derrick johnson. He's easily the best LB in the draft.
8. Arizona-RB Cadillac Williams. No brainer pick.
9. Washington- They had one of the best defenses in the league last year no doubt but they still need that edge rusher. DE Erasmus James gone give them what they need.
10. Detroit- CB Adam Jones. They added a pro bowler to their secondary and now their addin again. His size is the only thing that stopped him from going higher.
11. Dallas- LB Shawn Merrimen. Their lookin to make the 3-4 switch and they need the personnel.
12. San Diego- Mike Williams. I think he's way better than a 12 pick but that year off hurt him some. He might turn out to be the best WR from this draft.
13. Houston -- OT Alex Barron. Boselli didnt work out, Pace didnt work out, might as well get somebody young to grow at that spot. Look for him to occupy it for many years.
14. Carolina- TE Heath Miller. They need a upgrade at TE and after losing mushin muhammed they need some added fire power to the passing attack.
15. Kansas City- Carlos Rogers. They desperately need a CB and Surtain or Charles Woodson ain't comin at a good price for them so they get rogers. Nice size, and will give the chiefs the help they need in the secondary.
16. New Orleans- DT Travis Johnson. Their whole defense needs help. Bad. He'll help out their run defense alot.
17. Cincinnati- They need a Tackle also. Mike Patterson from USC will do the job. All I'm hearin is baby Sapp.
18. Minnesota- Troy Williamson. Mark Clayton is a possibility too, but he doesnt have the size or speed that williamson has.
19. St. Louis-DE Dan Cody from Oklahoma. He's a big steal at this spot.
20. Dallas- Their gonna keep improvin their defense adding DE Dave Pollack so he can play the 3-4 OLB for them.
21. Jacksonville- OT Jamaal Brown. They want to have Leftwich protected by the best.
22. Baltimore- They can't resist drafting defense. DE Marcus Spears. He'll play DE as they switch to the 4-3 defense.
23. Seattle- DT/De Shaun Cody. He's versatile and can play DT out of pass defenses.
24. Green Bay- LB Channing Crowder. He can add some bulk to the LB core. Good complement to Barnett.
25. Denver- WR Mark Clayton. They don't have much depth at WR and with Rod Smith getting old this would be the best pick.
26. N.Y. Jets- CB Fabian Washington. They need a CB upgrade bad. They get a strong cat that can cover good.
27. Atlanta- OT Khalif Barnes. Protect the franchise: Mike Vick
28. San Diego- They need help badly in the secondary. S/CB Marlin Jackson add playmaking ability and versatility being able to play both S and CB.
29. Indianapolis- LB Daryl Blackstock. Defense is a must, and their starting with their LB's.
30. Pittsburgh- Brandon Browner. He's 6'4, decent speed and plays physical. Fits well in the steelers D.
31. Philadelphia- Matt Jones. 6'6, 237 running a 4.3 in the 40. Two words that explain him is PLAYMAKER and DANGEROUS.
32. New England- LB Barrett Rudd. Their LB's are gettin older and some are leaving so they need to make this addition. He's smart, disciplined, and has the playmaking ability to fit in.
1 49ers
Alex Smith- the hype has been sayin aaron rodgers stock has greatly risen and he's going number 1, but I think out of the two alex smith is the better. He's got sure size, mobility, and his arm is unquestioned. Besides his workout was basically flawless, and he did alot more in college with less weapons than rodgers.
2 Dolphins
Ronnie Brown- Some say their pickin a QB but miami NEEDS a SURE franchise running back to come in right now. Barring trades, their going to get Brown. He's big, fast, and a great recieving running back.
3 Browns
This pick is a bit more complicated. Braylon Edwards is said to be the best player in this years draft, and could be on the browns radar. But they also need a QB for the future because trent dilfer isn't surely not a permanent starter. As much as I would like Braylon to drop down to the bears I think the logical pick here would be WR Braylon Edwards. He's a prototype of what Crennel likes. Great work ethic, great attitude, and great wr.
4 Bears
Since the Bears guy, Braylon Edwards went 3rd pick their going to stay true to the draft board and grab RB Cedric Benson. Thomas Jones can't handle an entire load by himself. Especially since Ron Turner is bringing a run first philosophy to the offense. Cedric Benson is a sure pick. He had multiple 1000 yard seasons at Texas. He's big, and can pound the defense. Some say he's had to many carries already, and that his workouts weren't too impressive, but the tape don't lie. He'll be a 1,000 yard back in at least 3 years.
5 Bucs
Carnell "Cadillac" Williams. They've had their eye on him since the end of week 16. They love him. He has a nice size at 210, he's quick and explosive, and he can give them what they have been lacking: a big play running back.
6 Titans
They need a CB desperately after losing both of their starters as cap casualties. Look for them to get Antrel Rolle. Adam Jones may be a better cover man, but Rolle has the size and physical play that the Titans like to have in their players.
7 Vikings
Derrick Johnson. He's one of the most athletic lb's the NFL has seen in the draft. He was very consistent in college, he's mature, and he can change a defense that is looking for an upgrade at lb spot. He will team nicely with napolean harrison and e.j. henderson.
That's all for now.....
damn dont u jus love the draft!!!!!!!!!this Sh*t is so exciting........if i wanst so lazy i'd do a mock draft
Yea man I be on draft updates like I'm playin madden 2005 during the off season. This be havin me as hyped as the season do. With that being said. Here's the next 7.
8 Cardinals
They missed out on their RB so they look to the other side of the ball for one of the best defensive players in Adam Jones. The cards need help all over their defense so they grab, possibly, the best cover man in the draft.
9 Redskins
Just now in. They just traded their 2006 1st pick, 2006 4th round pick, and this years 2nd round pick (don't quote me on those I might not be precise) for the Broncos 1 round, 25th pick in this years draft. This opens up more options for this pick. They take CB Carlos Rogers to replace the void that Fred Smoot left after leaving in free agency.
10 Lions
The Lions look to bolster their d-line into a possible powerhouse with the pick up of DE Erasmus James. He'll be even better playing on a line with big man shaun rogers and james hall.
11 Cowboys
Their bending over in the attempt to switch to the 3-4. They pick up the best LB to fit that personnel: Shawne Merriman. He will play the OLB in their 3-4. Nice speed, and he will bring a nice pass rush attack that dallas lacks.
12 Chargers
That trade with the Giants is coming in handy in the form of former USC standout Mike Williams. He's still the same player even after missing a year. Look for him to push for offensive rookie of the year status.
13 Texans
LT Alex Barron. This guy looks like a perennial pro bowler to me. 1). He's from FSU where the players are always better on the pro level. 2). He's possibly the most atheltic Offensive linemen to go this high in the draft (4.8 in the 40 and 38 inch vertical at +300 lbs.)
14 Panthers
This pick can go defense or offense. I think they will go offense and pick up TE Heath Miller. He's big, he can block, and he can catch. He gets the job done so what more can you ask for? They'll look for a WR later in the draft considering the depth at that position and a possible replacement for DT brentson buckner who is in the last year of his contract.
I'll hit ya with the bottom half of the draft later on this week.....
So many transactions in the past couple of days. New teams in new places in the draft. We have the redskins now at 25th and oakland takes over the 26th pick. I'll finish where I left off....
15 Chiefs
The chiefs just closed the deal with CB patrick surtain so they no longer are in need of a corner. Look for them to still go defense. Pass rushers are hard to pass up so look for them to grab David Pollack. Despite his size bottom line- production matters.
16 Saints
They are pleased with their cb's but they still want a boost to their secondary. Thomas Davis, hard hitting safety will give them that boost.
17 Bengals
They need a plug for that middle. DT Travis Johnson will help that D-Line against the run.
18 Vikings
They got their linebackers with their first pick, now they look to replace moss with WR Mark Clayton. Troy Williamson is a possibility also, but in my book he just hasn't shown that he is as good as Clayton.
19 Rams
Kyle Turley may be lost altogether so they get RT Jamaal Brown to hold on the right side of the line.
20 Cowboys
They continue to get personnel for their 3-4 and their thrill that demarcus ware is still here. They get him to put at the OLB spot.
21 Jaguars
The jag's were a great D last year but the one thing they lacked was a secondary that could stop the pass. They attempt to upgrade with CB Carlos Rogers. The 3rd auburn player taken in the first round.
22 Ravens
The Ravens make the switch to the 4-3 and need some better linemen so they go and add de/dt marcus spears. He will add a nice passrush up the middle and will become an even better all around player with ray lewis behind him.
23 Seahawks
They lost chike okeafor so they go and replace him with de/dt shaun cody. Cody can add a pass rush up the middle out of pass defenses and overall versatilty.
24 Packers
They lost star safety darren sharper so they go and replace him with fs brodney poole. He has a very nice size and speed to go with it. He will be a great upgrade for a terrible secondary.
25 Redskins
Word is gibbs is in love with auburn QB jason campbell. They get him and let him learn for a year or two on the bench to become their franchise QB.
26 Raiders
They lack alot defensively. They lost CD phil buchanon and is tryn to get rid or CB charles woodson. So they go and get CB fabian washington to have a young CB that can step in right away and take over the no. 1 spot when woodson is gone.
27 Falcons
Troy Williamson feel down to them and they don't hesitate in grabbing him. Their WR corps are lost when it comes to talent so they add speedster troy williamson in hope of a spark.
28 Chargers
Khalif Barnes. They get the 3rd tackle in the draft. He will only improve an offensive that was revived last season.
29 Colts
They pick up Mike patterson. He's been compared to warren sapp just like larry tripplet has. Dungey hopes to score with this guy.
30 Steelers
They need a upgrade to their secondary so they get CB/S Marlin Jackson. He'll be alot better in the pros then his draft spot says. He's got great awareness.
31 Eagles
6'6, 243, 4.3 sub 40= Matt Jones. They will put him all over the field on offense.
32 Patriots
Tedy Bruschi may be out for next season so they go and get Lb odell thurman. Thruman would of been lower but he has character issues. Nothing that the patriots can fix.
Well...these are my picks barring any trades.
let me just say i'm happpy with my jaguars pick...
MATT JONES! plus, we got the act that we wanted in the first round anyway, cause he was still avainliable when we got to the second round...i think it was meant to be...
Matt Jones is gonna be a white micheal v!ck/kordell stweart/rady moss...
JAGUARS TO THE SUPERBOWL, HO! 8-) (eve)
