I came into howard as undecided, and now I plan on doing pre-pharmacy, but I already registered for classes. I just need advice on what I should do. First I have all of these prerequisite courses to complete before two years are up and I want to know what I should do. Also is pre-pharmacy so hard, that I won't be able to have fun also?
Okay.. as someone who was a prepharmacy major, I guess I should respond...
It's hard, but people get through it. Doing your prereqs is not that difficult, but it is the level of committment you put into it that really setermines that. People that know me know that I THOROUGHLY enjoyed myself while I was a pre-pharm major. If you handle your business everything falls into place. However, you have to be prepared for some off the wall classes... Case in point, Organic Chemistry was the bane of my existence. I got through it. You just have to be able to prioritize. Also keep in mind the PCAT. It's an entrance exam that a lot of Pharmacy Schools use for admission purposes. I do well on standardized tests, so I did well... others did not fare as well. It is not required for all Pharmacy Schools, so do your research to figure out whether ot not you have to take it. Back to the "fun" question..... You'll have TONS.. it's hard to go to HU and not enjoy yourself. You'll have many classes with the same people, so you will form some strong bonds with them, and soon you'll realize that you do a lot of stuff with them.... It's not that bad... trust me.
Now, with your class registration, you should talk to your advisor (call over the summer) or wait til Add/drop period to see if you can switch calsses, or wait until the semester starts to do overrides. Those are your options. Embrace them and chose wisely.
Clearly, this could have all been done over a PM, but I guess that if you have any more questions,m feel free to continure this convo via PM.. I'll be more than happy to answer your questions..
