yep- bwing quiet could simply mean u dont got a lot to say or u dont feel as if u have 2 say anything much 2 get ur point across- doesnt mean ur shy at all, although being silent can be a result of shyness..

I agree, being quiet is a result of shyness. A shy person just doesnt feel comfortable expressing his or herself.

Yeah there is...I'm not quiet but I'm a little shy. Some people when they are around people don't say anything at all, even with people they know. I may be shy with a person that I don't know but when I warm up to them or depending on their personality I'll talk up a storm.

I know for sure there is a difference because this pertains to me. In school Im pretty quiet for the most part but I am in no way shy. Alot of the time I just dont feel like talkin or dont care for the people talking or the subject. But my friends will say im loud. I guess it all depends on who im comfortable to talk to. But if i have to say a speech or be in front of an audience im a little nervous but when im up there im not shy

Yeah, I'm the same way. I guess it really depends on the environment or situation I'm in. I'm quiet to a certain extent, especially if I'm around people I don't know. I won't say anything. I could be sitting next to the cutest guy in the room and won't say a thing.(quietness leads to shyness) I'd probably say hi or smile, that's it, but that's just me. Once I warm up to someone and become comfortable around them, it's a diff story. My friends say I act silly and I'm more outgoing when I'm with them, and I realize that I do. But everyone acts different when they're with their friends. As for as being shy....I'm slowly breaking away from that somewhat...I don't like getting up infront of people saying speeches and things like that.

i disagree. i am more on the quiet side myself, but i'm am not shy. me being quiet doesnt mean i dont have a lot to say either. i always have things to say, i just wait until i think it really needs to be said. you know, the right time to say it.

See, a lot of people dont realize that I'm shy as hell especially around certain people like, a female friends' parents, and a few new people. The degree of shyness depends on how long I've known the person who is introducing that new person to me.

There is a difference. In my seperation of quiet vs shy, Im not saying these can apply to ALL quiet and shy people, but just in my experiences this is what I tend to notice: Quiet - rather be a listener than an opinionator, doesnt tend to start a conversation, but has no problem engaging in one and giving their opinions and $.02, usually like to take things in and listen to others Shy - is usually uncomfortable talking and expressing themselves in front of people they dont know, tends to be timid about their opinions cause they dont want people to look at them as being wrong or stupid, sometimes can lack self-confidence
