Life at Howard Posted on 04-07-2005
CrazySCool05

Hi everyone I have decided that I will attend HU in the fall. I was hoping to get to know a few people and learn more about life at the real HU. It would be great to know both the bad and the good. What will the dorms be like? If you recieved a scholarship do you live in a honors dorm? What is the biology program like? I would like to know everything. I would appreciate any help that anyone could possible give. You can post or e-mail me personally. I would love to find a friend who I could get to know prior to arriving to campus in August. Holla @ ya girl

I went to HU and I loved the campus and the people as well. I want to know the unofficial info. You know everything they fail to tell you on the tour. I want to know who throws the best parties, how old do u have to be to get in the club. I am a subscriber to The Hilltop and I read the editorials. I want to know about stuff like the ResFest and the Cotton Club that will happen tommorow. I didnt get to go in the dorms when I visited. Are they big, small, decent? I am just so excitied that I really dont know exactly what I want to know. I am receptive of all info. Holla @ ya girl

The dorms are big compared to other dorms I've seen. Like, I went to Michigan State University, another school I wanted to go to, and their dorms were pretty small, like 8 by 8. So Howard's dorms are pretty big, like 12 by 12, they're nice. Also in college I heard that you won't be in your dorm that much, unless you're a studying hermit. Mostly you'll be in class, on "the yard" or at a party or in "the punchout."

thats whats up that the dorms are pretty decent in size. I only want to be able to have my own space and when I want to be in my space that is what I want. I mean are you going to howard? Are you there now? Whats up? you seem to be very knowledgeable about the school. What else do you know that I might not. Holla @ ya girl

Well Crazyskool, i don't go to Howard yet. But i know a LOT about the school cuz i got relatives up there and i'm up there all the time, so i figured i can answer ur questions for you :-) . What will the dorms be like? They're really nice for college dorms for real. And plus people in the dorms get real close with each other. If you recieved a scholarship do you live in a honors dorm? Well i've noticed most of the girls on scholarship stay in the Annex. But the boys seem like they all stay in Drew regardless until space is an issue. What is the biology program like? Well my brother is in that program and it's really tough. And plus my uncle is a teacher in that program and he's hella smart so his class has gotta be tough too. P.S. Like what Bisonette said, mice are a problem. But it's not just in the Annex tho. When i was staying in Drew, a **** definately had to sleep wit my head on a chair and my feet on a bed because there was a mous running around and my punk **** brother didn't wanna share his bed :-) . ****was TOO uncomfortable. It's cuz the heat vents run thru all the rooms wit some pipe and the mice run all through there.

Thats crazy about the mice thing but hey it is all apart of the experience. I am just ready to go so that I can experience life. I am the only child and I wouldnt say I was sheltered but I missed out on a lot so I just want to experience whatever there is to offer. One day I want to be able to be like yeah stuff like that went down when I was in school, the good, the bad, the in-between. But yall keep me posted because yall are being really helpful. holla @ ya girl PDT_003

Yea, I agree. Mice are bad, but yep they're part of the experience. I'm just ready to start college and live life too. I'm not an only child but I have missed out on things also. And no, I don't go to Howard yet, lol. Did you read my 1st post? It's long so I understand why you wouldn't read it, long posts equals boring. To Tru Chicagoan: Um nope, I don't go to Howard, I'm waiting for a response (acceptance letter). And PM me if you wanna know that other stuff.

I probably did read yoiur first post it is just that a lot has been going on so y mind has been out in left field lately. Are you going to the open house on the 15th. I cant make it because I have to work but I would have loved to go up there. I just want to go and chill for a weekend. I may be going up there earlier than expected for school. But that is only if I am accepted into the distinguished scholar program. Do you all know anything about the honors programs and stuff? Holla @ ya girl :smt023
