1. money... work as much as you can in the summertime, so that you can be set for at least the first semester of school...
2. computer... it's crucial, b/c if you don't have one, and you get stuck w/ a roommate who's stingy as all hell, and 3/4 of the damn lab computers don't work, you pretty much screwed
3. hygienal products... it's okay to bum out to class, but at least apply deodorant and brush ya damn teeth... :x if i come across this, someone's gettin clowned...
4. focused state of mind.... set your priorities... and if you gonna be a procrastinator, make sure you get your stuff done... at all costs... there will be nights where you'll be up all night... heck i've stayed up for 39 straight hours at one point in time... best suggestion is if you have a big project... do it bit by bit... so you'll have a smaller workload when crunch time hits
5. respect... come to school with respect... not only are you representing yourself, but you're representing your parents, siblings, family, etc. and when you go to other schools (from clubs/student organizations) you are representing the school you attend... now if you get disrespected, then the green light is there for you to do whatever... but show some class and take the higher road in situations (makes you look good in the long run)
6. now this is optional and really up to the parents 95% of the time, and that's a car... now if you have a car up here... you really should look into a weekend job at the least, or a workstudy... now if you dont' have a car, quickly make some friends who have a car... 9 times out of 10 if you need a ride, someone will be there to help you out...and if you do have a car, learn the city that you are going to school in... learn the main roads, and as you become more oriented in the city... take different ways... luckily in greensboro, most of the main roads connect at one point or another..
that's some of my main points... hope this helps a lil bit
