Hey everyone !!!
So I have a question for you guys. I was wondering if anyone of yall were admitted as transfer students and if you were, what was your experience like. Good?Bad? Dissapointing? Best decision you made? Exciting?!
Also, if you are not a transfer student, have you ever known of a transfer student or befriended one? How have you observed their experience as a transfer student? good?bad? hard? How open are you to making friends w/ a new person (transfer student) when you already have an established group of friends (and I actually mean really being friends not just you cool w/ them and talk/hang out with them ocassionally)????
As some might know ( I mentioned in another thread) I'm thinking about transfering to NC A&T ! I've already been a transfer student once haha not a good experience but I am trying to look forward and find a place where I can be truly happy and proud to attend!! I am hoping that if I do go to NCAT I wont be dissapointed or unhappy again.
I'm interested in hearing others experiences out of curiosity!! Its not going to affect my decision on what school I will attend.
**P.S. If there are any Aggies out there I would love to hear from you about anything and everything you want to mention about NCAT!!!!
THANKS ALL !!!!!!!!

Hi,
I hope this finds you in good spirits. I made several friends throughout my college years and did not know if they started at TSU or transferred. Personally, I never asked too much information unless it’s a really close friend and we randomly talk about it. I think people are always seeking to network and meet similar minded people. I try to make a point to surround myself with ambition and motivated people. Therefore, I think people would like to befriend good individuals regardless of their background.
Ok first off...Are you a transfer or a high school senior..cause your either one of them according to your other post on the site...I know your excited but you dont need to lie to get info!
First off..NCAT?? Are you serious??? I toured the school 2 months back..and I was not impressed. A White HBCU! I wont be surprised if looses the HBCU tag in the next 20 years. I'm currently working on transferring to Morehouse from Lewis School of Business..which is a two year HBCU is Detroit. After touring over 7 diffrent schools.. All I can say is..fellas and sistas dont care where you come from or how you got there...as long as you stay real and come to get educated and enhance the status of your race..your cool peoples.
Dont get me wrong..walking around AUC..I saw clicks..but thats everywhere. But I did notice that your economic status may determine who your friends will be on HBCU's. Then Again...Thats Everywhere! GO MOREHOUSE!!
First off: Thank You TSUblueTiger for the reply. I see what you are saying. I was referring to the fact that a lot of times people already have established friendhips/cliques/groups and although a transfer cant meet and get to know people it may be hard to truly find friends that you can really get to know, trust, confide in, have college experiences/memories b/c people already have established relationships...does that makes sense. However, I hope that
when I do transfer, I meet people like you who befriend others regardless of when or where they are coming from!!! :-D
OK FBillionaire:
"Ok first off...Are you a transfer or a high school senior..cause your either one of them according to your other post on the site...I know your excited but you dont need to lie to get info!"
LOL... I'm not a high school senior! I am a second year sophomore in college. I went to one school my freshman yr than to another this year my sophomore yr...i dont like the school I am at now so I am considering a transfer to A&T...so no I am not lying to get information!
But anyways, I think its interesting you say NCAT is a white HBCU lol I dont really understand how you came to that conclusion. But, I just want to attend a school I will genuilly like and be proud to attend and that is welcoming! A&T seems like a really good school to me and I also wanted to apply to Howard and maybe Clark but thats too much $$$$!!! Regardless, I will keep lookin up on A&T and visit again and make my on conclusions on whether or not I truly like it as much as I like it now! :-)
But yes, you are right, everywhere you go there will be cliques!! So, in general it is hard for people to find the right people for them or where and with who they feel comfortable. I am jus interested in how others have experienced getting to know people especially when it comes to transfer students (who dont quite have the same experience as freshmans).
I'm glad you found that Morehouse is the school right for you!!
Alright..I got some time on my hands tonight so I'm gonna give it to you like this...the amount of time and energy it will take to make the money to get through a school like Howard will be so worth it. I'm getting my Associates in Hotel management just so I can transfer to Morehouse and get a job in the hot hotel industry so I can pay my Morehouse bill. I could easily choose unaccredited Morris Brown or some other cheap HBCU. But I know if I want the best in life..I must attend the Best! Look at the Rankings! Employers do!
NCAT..I know its close to home..i know its cheap..but really sit down and consider if that school has the reputation you want! Does it have a Regional Presence? Is it Nationally Known outside the black community? Is the alumini base strong and successful? What do America's top Companies think about my school? What is the graduation rate? What is the average salary graduates from this school earn? What types of internships are available nearby?
My two years in college have taught me...Dont get caught into..how pretty a campus looks or how many friends you'll make..not saying you were. Cause in the end..when your successful..you'll have all the "Friends" you'll ever need.
In the end..do what YOU need to do. But dont ever let the lack $$$ determine your future. I grew up in 6 diffrent foster homes. The day I graduated HS. My then foster family stopped recieving checks from the state and locked me out. In my mind I've been on my own since birth. But I swear that every bill that comes to me some how gets paid... I really believe its because I knew I could not afford to go to college but because I trusted in THE LORD TO SOMEHOW PROVIDE FOR ME..HE COMES THROUGH TIME AND TIME AGAIN.. FOR THE LORD ALWAYS PROVIDES!!
You know the LORD IS GOOD..when your brother becomes sick and his credit card company out of nowhere decides to up his credit limit to just over what was required to pay the bill and prevent it from going into collections. Then FAMU provided him with a "lost" refund check that allowed him to pay the credit card. MAN..THE LORD IS SO GOOD..YOU GOT ME ALL FIRED UP NOW.
I think every university is known for a particular field of study. Therefore, it’s important to research a university and understand its most prestigious program(s). As far as tuition, it depends on if the school is public or private. Private universities are typically more expensive. Public universities are cheaper due to receiving money from the state. Howard and Morehouse are great universities, but they are private and expensive. NC A&T is a great university, but it’s public and receives funding from the state. NC A&T is a great institution and definitely focuses on education. I remember going on interviews and meeting graduates from NC A&T. From what I remember, they were very bright and intelligent individuals. Honestly, the university will get you into corporate America, but it’s up to you to excel. From my experience, people rarely ask about your educational background in corporate America. They have the same expectation for all college graduates, which is to get the job done right. Just remember that people will judge you based on your character and work ethic. If you are known to the get the job done, you will be ok. Just never give up.

Wow..that was a good read lol!!..Well, Fbillionaire I agree with you to an extent. Your are right in saying that one should go to the best school. But one should go to the best for for him/her! Just because a school is highly ranked doesnt mean it the best. Trust me I have heard to many stories about highly ranked school that were overrate. And, I too have experienced this for myself. My freshman year I went to a underrated school where you didnt have to be "smart" to get it. But, I had never met so mant intelligent people in my life! Seriously, there were so many academicaly gifted people and the academics/teachers that the school had were great! Also, the school was diverse which was a plus! But you know what?? I transfered to a more competitive, more desired, and "smarter" high ranked school and was dissapointed. The education is bad but it is highy overrated i tell you! I was dissapointed in the academics, social scene, and lack diversity (the school didnt feel welcoming). It didnt live up to my expectation generated by the hype it was given. Its a great school for others but NOT for me!Some days im okay but for the most I am very unhappy....so in the end is a highly ranked school worth going to when you are unhappy and will live w/ regrets in the future!?
I know that Howard is a great school ( I really wanted to apply...too late though lol)! And Morehouse as well! But just because they are private doesnt mean they are better....NCAT as I know have strong alumni. And wow student just seem SO PROUD to be at NCAT why wouldnt they give back after graduating? My sister always complains b/c she goes to UNC Greensboro and how the pride of Greensboro is NCAT. Lol..if you say "i go to school in G-boro"...people will say "OH, You go to NCAT!!!??"...LOL
I agree with TSUblueTiger..."Honestly, the university will get you into corporate America, but it’s up to you to excel." ......TSU is right...its the experience, knowledge, and will that gets you where you need to be...not just the name of your school."I think every university is known for a particular field of study. Therefore, it’s important to research a university and understand its most prestigious program(s)." ....again right. Harvard and Howard are prestigious..but say for instance they dont have the best Dental Schools....one has to fing the "best" program not just the best overall school.THANKS TSUblueTiger for the reply!! And for the list of top black colleges!!!!
I have to let you know Fbillionaire that I really admire you. You went through all that stuff and still do so you can pay the bills and got to the best school possible (although its the best school for you). I want and wish I could be like that. But, really....you have had to be independent your whole life due to your circumstances....but I still feel like I am a dependent person....sad I know. So, although I do not exactly agree on "prestige" with you...I admire your will to do what you've got to to get where you want. Lord knows there are other places Id rather go and be and do in life....
Thanks Again Fbillionaire and TSUblueTiger !!
....anyone else on transfer experiences dont hesitate to post too!!
