It's 6 years to the day from the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington and the diverted **** in Shanksville, PA.Do you remember what you were doing when you heard the news of "a plane crashing into a building in New York"?Did you personally know any of the people that were lost in any of the deaths? Travelers, Workers, Emergency Responders, etc?How was your life affected by the event? How has your life changed since then?Any other words of expressions you'd like to post?
I Actually Do Remeber Exactly What I Was Doing I Was In The 7th Grade In My English Class. We Had A Sub That Day But N E Ways We Were Doing A Final Draft For An Essay And Aftre The Teachers Phone Rang She Turned On The Tv And It Was Just Complete Choas For The Rest Of The Day. At The Time I Know That The Towers And All The Other Places Were Important Buildngs But I Didnt Understand At The Time How They Affected Our Country.
I was at work in Philly when a friend of mine emailed me telling me about a plane flying into a building in New York. I went out into the lobby and saw the footage on CNN of the first plane, no 2nd plane yet. So I went back to my desk and really didn't think much of it. After a while I went back into the lobby to watch CNN and that's when the 2nd plane crashed into the other tower. Like you said Hornet, it was total chaos after that. Since I was working for the gov't and in between NYC and DC, folk started emailing and calling me to make sure I was alright. I left for the day at lunch and my TV stayed on CNN for the next few days.Fortunately I didn't know anyone personally affected by the tragedy. I don't think any of our lives will ever be the same. So many things have changed b/c of this significant event. 2,974 lives were lost, my prayers go out to all of those families and to those indirectly affected.
I remember I was a freshman in college and I was wondering why the Soap Operas were not on for the day. Then I saw the news of the tragedy and my television stayed on the news all that day. That was a sad day for America. My sister and my brother-in-law were in Jamaica on their honeymoon and their flight was canceled because of the events that were going on. She described how they were searched thoroughly at the airport on the way back to America. I prayed this morning for the family members of those who were affected by 9/11. I pray that they have a spirit of peace as they remember their loved ones on this day.
I was in my dorm room at Howard. Folks were glued to their TVs watching the news all day. It was scary having a ****attack less than 20 minutes from campus.
I wasnt effected personally but I knew a lot of Howard people who had family in NYC....it was really a very trying time.
i was in 6th grade i was in school and the teachers turned on the tv my school dismissed everyone so we could be with our families its amazing how fast time flies and how traveling has been change just incase something like this were to happen again
I was at work, since I work at a school, I was preparing for an assembly. It was a nice and calm morning. Every one laughing and joking around. Next thing I knew, my cell phone and office phone were ringing. Parents calling the school asking about their children, if they were ok. Others coming to take their children home. All day long we recieved calls of frightened parents. Parents as well as staff members were fearful of an attack in the schools. Phones were ringing all over the campus and everything came to a hault. We tried our best to keep the children from knowing what was going on and kept the day going as if everything was good.
Folks were crying because they knew someone or just because it was so close to home.
Even days later, driving in the streets I noticed people crying or in the stores. It was one of if not the toughest time in America. We were not prepared for this and obviously others knew that. I learned that that was not the first time that the terrorists have tried to attack us through the WTC.
My heart goes out to those families that lost someone.
