Okay, everyone.
I heard about an episode on Oprah about three women that were put on the platform, all were dressed professionally. The audience had to take a survey on what they thought the women did for a living.
One was Asian, Caucasian, and African American. Of course, they said the Afro-American woman did hair, the Asian lady owned a business, and the Caucasian woman was this big time executive! Not!
Turns out the African American woman was the top executive!
Do we really judge people by their skin color first!
Someone enlighten me....
Yes, we do tend to judge people by their skin color but other things come into play as well.
The fact that the majority of the audience couldnt belive that a well dressed Black woman could have more status than a well dressed white woman doesnt surprise me at all. There are so many stereotypes and preconceived notions about every race that I doubt will ever go away.
That is interesting... Especially since it was on Oprah... Depending on what part of the country you are in you would probably get some really wild and different answers.... I bet alot of it has to do with people's experiences and what they see in the media...
I think the audience was wrong for that. It just shows how society still stereotypes people. It was obvious that the audience judged them by skin first.

So did the Asian lady sell weave, I mean do hair(lol) and the caucasian own a business? But seriously, with diversity being such a driving force these days, you never know who is who. Do we still judge by skin color, yes but most of the time you'll guess wrong.Just like most of ya'll wouldn't believe that I'm a millionaire until I showed ya'll a bank receipt!

OF COURSE PEOPLE ARE STILL JUDGED BY THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN!!!
Now let's back track a moment and consider the source.
First of all even though Oprah is black, her targeted audience is not black. Oprah's audience was the right one to prove what she was setting out to do. I'm not setting out to ruffle the feathers of any Oprah fans, but if I do "ole well!!!" Oprah is not for black people unless it's to boost her ratings. Sometimes I think she even forgets that she's black.
Race is always going to be an issue as long as it is being passed on from generation to generation. It's nothing but stereotypes and bigotry. All it takes is for one person to confirm the myth and everyone starts to believe it. We can't blame nobody but ourselves, because we judge everything and everybody. If it's not the color of their skin, it's the clothes they were. Or it's the car they drive. Or the job they have. Maybe it's the way they talk. Or the way they eat. This is a realistic question, because some people judge one another without even consciously knowing it.
I do believe the question
is not do we judge,
but why do we judge???
