I'm not good enough

I'm thinking about applying to Morehouse College, but I dont think I have what it takes to be accepted. They require a 2.5 GPA and I have a 2.3 if that. They want a 21 ACT score, I have not received my ACT scores yet,but I know I didnt do as good on them as I could have. I just dont see why they would accept a dude like me. I really want to go to this school and I know if they give me a chance to prove myself I can keep my GPA in the 3.0 ranger or higher. I also dont have a ton of community service so they will probably think I'm lazy, when the truth is my last 2 years of high school have been chaotic. Ahhh man I dont know what I'm going to do. I just know if they take the risk on me they want be upset, but like I said before why would they take a risk on a kid with credentials like mine. If any of you currently attend Morehouse College can you please tell me if its even worth a try to apply?

It's always worth it to apply but if your aren't accepted and you're convinced that Morehouse is your school, go to a community college first, get your gpa up and transfer in. Best Wishes with your decision.

Try to get your GPA up...AP classes are great too. They'll raise your GPA and they'll look good on your transcripts. If you did bad on the ACT, study for it (I mean, REALLY study) ...and take it again, if you can. It's also not too late to join some clubs or go and volunteer somewhere (Or everywhere, in your case.lol.). Another thing, make sure you write a **** admissions essay (I suggest you start on it now) you can use that as an opportunity to explain whatever you were going through the last 2 years of High School, and how you plan to do better. I hope you get in! The admissions rate is 70%, if that makes you feel better. Another place to see if you have a chance is mychances.net ...there, you can type in your information and school records and stuff and they'll give you your percent chance on getting into Morehouse College (like 43.2% ..31.8% ..67.7% , etc.). Oh, and you should go and join some of the clubs at your school that will still take students in, and finish out the year in them so you can put them on your transcripts. Another great thing to join (that accepts members year round, no specific requirements) is the NAACP Youth Council, Morehouse would love that. I'm not sure where you live but most cities have their own branch (Google the one in your city). You only meet once or twice a month and it looks REALLY good on the transacipts. Hope I helped!! By the way, I'm not a student at Morehouse College. Actually, I'm a female sophmore in High School...15 years old. I'm going to Howard University. My advice still helped though, right?

Yes, you can. There is no required GPA to take an AP course ..just as long as you think you can handle the class. They are very hard (remember, it's college work). Just give it 100% and you'll be fine. It'll boost your GPA, especially if you get an "A". I heard AP Human Geography is pretty easy, if your school offers it. Another thing you can do, before second semester starts... Is go and take a semester class at the local Community College (you can go at night or after school) and get credits there (they'll transfer to your school). It'll cost money though, but Morehouse will love that. What college would't want a student who paid for extra school? ..lol. They'll love to see the progress and how you showed that you give a damn, and that you're trying. Most students grades drop when they get to their senior year (from what I've seen). What grade are you in?

The high schools in Cleveland don't offer many AP courses it depends on the high school. Plus if they do offer the class the guidance office will be reluctant to let a student in the class if they don't have a good academic record. As far as the community colleges go, Tri-C has a program that allows High School students to attend in order to recieve college credit. You don't have to pay for the classes as far as you pass the class with a "C". I know this program has gpa requirements though but I forgot them. You still didn't mention which high school you attend.

I strongly suggest you try your absolute hardest to get a 4.0 GPA this second semester, and you WILL get it IF you want to go to Morehouse as much as you claim (give it your ALL). And most High School AP classes are year long. So you should see if you can take a semester class at a Community College near you, and get the records transferred. And like I said before, get involved. ..Join some clubs or something. Even students with straight A's get rejected from Colleges because of lack of involvement. Colleges don't want a campus full of "do nothings". So join some things and be active (Isn't Track starting up this upcomming season? ...It will look good on your transcripts. Join). Extra curricular activities are one of the most important things on your transcripts that admissions officers look for. Unless there's a certain requirement to take AP courses at your school ...your councelor can't tell you "no". She can just stongly suggest you not take it. Don't take no for an answer, just tell her you want to take it anyway. Don't worry about how dumb you'll look, just think about how Morehouse is calling your name.lol. Good luck!
