Alright everybody, what are your recommendations for the first book? We can judge the amount of time to read the book by the length of the book you all decide on... I don't want to be the one to pick the book, but I'd like for the first one to be Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe
This seems to be a very crude way to choose a book, if anybody has any ideas of a better system, holla at me... maybe a small council of select people who choose a book every once in a while, maybe even rotating? Let me hear YOUR input...this is your book club!

well since based on the last thread about it in The Yard, we all have different ideas of what books we should read and/or discuss....
how about we rotate, like you said...?
i don't know how we'd start....maybe uhh...alphabetically...or by age....or maybe each of us can list up to five books we've read that we'd recommend and/or think would be a good choice for everyone else to read collectively....then we can go from there....
i don't know - jus throwin' out some suggestions....
Well I dont care what we read...but I have two suggestions...
Our first book should be NON-FICTION
and a good choice of a book is Sister SOuljah - NO DISRESPECT
* I still havent gotten around to reading this one yet, but it gets a lot of good reviews from people I know who have read it *

Some one mentioned earlier in the first post that our first book should be thought provoking, I agree. They gave the example "The Mis-education of the Negro". I think this would be a good one to start out with just because I feel it would be very interesting and I would love to hear everyones view and opinions of the book. But I do agree that we should read various types of books. Just my two cents.
