MTV2 Hip Hops 22 Best MCs is a sham Posted on 06-05-2004
WileECoyote06

Foxy Brown being on the list? KRS not in the top ten? Nelly being on the list? Big Pun higher than LL Cool J and Chuck D? This is BS, Foxy didn't even write much of her stuff. Lil Kim used her looks to sell her music. Big Daddy Kane wasn't on the list, nor were OutKast, Tribe Called Quest, or De La Soul. MTV should have never let silly people vote on this list. MTV is full of shyt. I grew up with hip-hop and my top fifteen is: 15. Snoop 14. DMX 13. Big Daddy Kane 12. Ice Cube 11. Scarface 10. LL Cool J 9. Chuck D 8. Tribe Called Quest 7. Run DMC 6. Jay-Z 5. Nas 4. OutKast 3. Eminem 2. Tupac 1. Biggie Smallz My list is my opinion, but it's a hell of a lot better than that MTV crap. Honorable mention goes to Ras Kass, Ghostface Killa, Method Man, Common, De La Soul and Queen Latifah. And Missy transcends MC status; her Lauryn Hill and Cee-Lo are in a category by themselves. What do yall think?

Maybe the list was constructed to show the most influential rap artists...Maybe it was not based on lyrics at all...Because there is no way Nelly should be in Top 50 lyrically but maybe Top 10 because of his influence (the man went diamond his debut album before anyone considered him a pop artist)...

It's a mainstream cable network...so what did you expect? on a sidenote...How is Rakim not in your Top 15? and if Missy and Lauren Hill aren't "MC's" then why not move Outkast?

Remember....MTV is not speaking about PURE Hip Hop...They want to include all fans(WHITE FOLKS), so they use rappers that white kids know and like. Alot of their programming and view of Hip Hop is bull s*it.. MTV and Clear Channel(Radio Giant) are killing rap.... As far as best emcees according to the founding principals of Hip Hop, it would have to be: Tupac/Rakim(tied for first) Big Daddy Kane Nas KRS-ONE Jay-Z B.I.G. Scarface Andre 3000(before the singing..but I still love Outkast) Ice Cube/Snoop(always rep for the West/ Dope lyrics.) *Snoop before he became some whack **** ***** Queen Latifah/Foxy Brown(Best females ever....Lil Kim iz terrible) EMINEM WILL NEVER BE ON MY LIST... HE IZZ PLAYING THE CULTURE.....
