Uppity Negro...
I've noticed that this is the latest "fashion" trend at HU. I know that perspective freshmen have prolly never heard of it before, but how do the current Howardites feel about it? I know its just clothes, but do you feel it sends a positive messege?
I'll post my opinions later...

they talk about the name is supposed to represent the blacks among us who have rebelled and revolutionized....but I mean they couldnt think of any other positive name..like maybe "african royalty" "revolutionaries" something lol....i mean the name is just bad planning, cause I know if my white friends saw me with a shirt that said "uppity negro" they would look at me like i was psycho or even if noone black here knew what i was meaning they would think negatively....so i dont agree with the name...the message yeah...but since I dont try to be the definition of uppity i cant support something with that name, cause that would compromise my true background and where i came from, and insult the people who helped me who the uppities may not think matter, who didnt exactly protest but still made a huge difference with the means they had...

Ok I get it now. It's actually not a bad concept the only thing is I don't think many people will get the actual meaning of the shirt.
I've never heard of that before but its an interesting idea. Only thing that bothers me is that they claim not to be a fashion line or a fad like those bob marley t-shirts. But once people start wearing much of something, it becomes a trend and sometimes isn't the point to get a message across to the masses. Thats it for now.
