Around the table Posted on 07-11-2004

Sooo..I was chillin outside with a friend of mine around 6-6:30pm when she got up and said she had to leave for dinner. I was kinda shocked because i didnt think that many families still sit around the table for dinner...My family used to, but it stopped. And when it did, I noticed a big change, referring to how close we were and how distant we are now.Now that I live with my father (and he's usually at work) we dont sit and eat together. Now after homie came back, we got into this discussion on how a lot of families dont sit down and talk like they used to and that's why so many black families have been and are falling apart...I wanted to know,do you guys still sit around the table and actually have conversation with your fam?or does everyone go off and do their own thing??and do you believe families grow apart because of this?

I never sit around and eat dinner unless im at my aunts house (my 2nd home). Then we at least eat in the same room and talk n stuff. When im at home we all eat at different times. The food ets cooked then we eat when we want

we try to, but everybody get they own schedules, especially in the summer. we do have family meeting/prayer every night where we talk about stuff. we just started it a few months ago but it's helpful. i can get stuff of my chest to my family. i think it's important for families to spend some time together everyday even if it's only 10 minutes.

well since it's me and my mom and she still cooks for dad (and me when i'm here) i feel it's the least i can do is to sit and talk with her... i can talk to my mom on practically anything... it's different when my dad is around.. i just eat and leave... :?
