Well I have Bank of America, and the fees for a checking account aren't that high its about 5.00 a month. If u get a job while in DC you can ask for direct deposit then u won't have to worry about the monthly fees. I hope I helped a little bit.

I'm with Bank of America. I set up my campus checking account 2 months ago and it is free for the first 6 months. Or if you have direct deposit, or if your parent has an account with Bank of America it is free for five years. You should go talk to someone, because whoever told you that lied. As long as you have one of those two things it's free. And the minimum opening deposit is like $25. You can even go on the website and look it up.

When i was going to open an account w/ Bank of america my freshman year, there was someone getting arrested in front of the building  ......so my mother ordered me to turn around and go back to Wachovia.....ive been w/ wachovia for a good while....its up the street from campus (near the gym) and it was really convienent(sp) for me when i was living in Drew. The have free checking too.....I hate bank of america anyway....(thieving devils   ).....some people have a problem w/ it because they dont have atms all around campus like Bank of America......but I never have cash anyway, so it doesn't really make a difference to me.

Since i did alot of student traveling in highschool, i opened up my BOA account in about...1999/2000. I love BOA becuz u can find an ATM for em everywhere and it's convenient. My account is connected with my mom's so she can easily transfer funds to mine, or withdraw/deposit whenever. But if a parent/relative doesn't have an account that u can link yours to, u can just get the special college student account. BOA representatives were at HU for freshman orientation last year with a table in blackburn signing people up and explaining some of the benefits. They may be there again for u to check out your options.

I closed my Washington Mutual account to open a Bank of America account. I like having an ATM on every corner. The only thing about BOA is that my mom's name has to be on my account for her to make deposits. They wouldn't let me link them or anything, she actually has to be on my account. It's not that serious cause I trust my mother 1000% with my money, plus she looks out for me when the balance may look a lil low. Plus....it's free until 2010 (6 years even though undergrad is only on avergage 4)

I have Bank of America also. I love it because I don't have to worry about ATM fees because the ATMs on campus are all Bank of America. I also don't pay any fees becasue I have direct deposit. I think its best to have BOA especially if you don't wanna pay ATM fees because as a college student, you may wish you had that $2.00 or whatever it is someday.
