Thanks for the reply Truth, I'm really stressed out about textbooks, my friends at other colleges have paid between $500 - $1000 in just textbooks alone. Is it that bad at Howard? I guess it depends on your classes/professors. Is anyone here in the School of Engineering? What are some of the requirements?

I'm not in the School of E so I can't tell you. But in regards to books, we used to try all types of tricks to avoid buying books ****! If a book cost $100 we would go in half with someone else, or try and get the book online at Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble, or try and get it cheaper from another school like Georgetown or UDC. Look in the HU Bookstore for used books or just ask an upperclassmen to sell theirs to you. Sometimes, some professors ask you to buy a book and dont even use it the entire semester. I used to HATE that...

oh ok cause i read in another thread something about the govenator and ppl were saying "i'll be back" and I was liek.... "omg i dont believe it's in CA!" but fortunately I was wrong. Anyway, so I try to fill out the Howard online Application and it won't let me finish - it keeps saying that someone is tryin to break in and won't let me do it! I sincerely hope that isn't the case, cause i put my SSN in one of the application feilds.
I'd advise you to do a paper application instead. Technology isn't always the safest bet sometimes, plus it would help to have something tangible so you can make copies and have evidence of your work. You will come to find that having back ups will save your life...no joke lol. Just call the number on the website and have administration to mail you a package. That will probably eliminate any future issues

IT'S ABOUT THAT TIME!! The school year is quickly approaching!...Nervous huh? lol, well there is no need to be. Why? Because there are various support systems waiting for you at HU that will help in anyway possible. As freshman orientation week approaches, you will be bombarded with tons of programs and events to attend. One MUST have that you should definately be in attendance for is "Sister Stars" in the School of Communications. Although Sister Stars is a program that is sponsored within the school of c, it is not just limited to school of c women. It is a program that was started to be a support system for young women on campus and foster development. You'll definately get some information there that will be beyond helpful. So feel free to come out and network, socialize, and meet some other phenomenal young women. I'll be one of the speakers, so come on out and see for yourself if i'm just as nice in person as i am on here...lol jk. It will be held on Tuesday, August 21st from 6 pm-8pm in the Biology Auditorium. Oh, and for the men there is "Man Up", which will be held at the same time in room G-10 in the School of C. OH, and I CANNOT forget to invite you all (male AND female) to Wednesday Night Live, which will be held the following night (wed.) at 6:45 in Rankin Chapel. This is an event like no other! There will be singing, dance, comedy, stepping, and so much more. So if you're looking for something upbeat, that will get you hyped for the upcoming school year, and allow for you to mix, mingle, and fellowship, feel free to come out to the chapel on wed. and be blessed beyond measure. Hope to see you all there! Holla at me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. The name is Kenya. KndHrtd03@aol.com GET READY FOR A COLLEGE EXPERIENCE LIKE NO OTHER! GOOD LUCK BISON!
