Ok, I'm not sure if I am the only one that noticed, but...
Why is is that when the kid shoots up 32 people on a white college campus President Bush is on TV the same day issuing condolences and statements and the next day he flys in to the rescue, but when New Orleans gets flooded and lives lost and mad chaos, he is no where to be found!!!???
I think that the Electoral College, for the most part, is an archaic process... it was developed at a time when the accuracy of votes at the state and regional level could not be trusted, and needed to be reported in person. (Some would argue that this is still the case, but that's another conversation.)It made a lot of sense then, not as much now. I do agree that a simple majority vote could be disastrous in certain circumstances. However, someone with the desire to abuse the system could probably do it regardless of the checks and balances in place.
